In 2010 the University of Rijeka and the Town of Cres have signed an Agreement for using the Moise Palace for educational purpose and subsequently in 2012 detailed contract on its usage and management. Access to education will therefore be increased for the local population and the quality of education in the region will be significantly improved. Since the project comprises the establishment of two educational centres led by the University of Rijeka the intention is to attract large number of native and foreign students, professors and experts throughout the year increasing this way the opportunities for the local tourist offer. Besides that, local inhabitants will also in case of insufficient accommodation capacity of the dormitory get the opportunity to increase their incomes by offering the accommodation to the participants of various events. The University Centres will stimulate the orientation towards the development based on cultural and science tourism and help study and revitalize traditional proficiencies and skills. Commercial use of the restaurant and coffee shop together with University centres will enable the opening of new working places for local and regional population.

Source of financing: EU contribution 85% and Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia 15%. 3,527,500.00 EUR (EU) and 622,500.00 EUR (Ministry of Culture).
